Facebook – A brand new Marketing Avenue

Facebook and Social Media – The following Marketing Opportunity

Marketing as an activity is about reaching the best customers with the right products, and also the result sought is delighted customers that are more than willing to open their purses wide enough to boost your revenues. For many years, marketers stalked their target customers through various means by looking to get their message across to spread awareness about their wares.

Traditional Way of Communication

Traditionally, marketing communications were conducted via print, broadcast and such traditional media through disruptive advertising, where advertisements appear in between your content of interest for the client.

Traditional media does provide a large reach to a marketer using its programming of mass appeal. However, the wastage is every bit high, since a large part of the audience would belong to a different segment than the one which is to be targeted through the marketer.

Enter Social Media and the Internet

The revolution stirred by the internet as a medium took place because to the fact that it is highly personalized and provides more content on-demand than every other available medium. Places to waste time proliferated everywhere within their usage for some simple reasons:

The power to create and distribute content is equally open to every user, irrespective of him/her as being a customer or a marketer. In the earlier forms of media, that power rested with the editorial staff of the channel or even the advertiser, but hardly ever with the user. The medium is completely personalized, and a user can create or join groups and further create content depending on what he/she likes. Opinions are free and fair. This is one reason why social media is of utmost concern to marketers, since buying decisions are no more influenced as much by advertisements. The standard word-of-mouth marketing approach has grown a lot on internet sites.

Facebook – At the center of Social Media

With 500 million (and growing) unique users worldwide, Facebook is the main social network site when it comes to activity and subscriptions. What started like a garage initiative by Mark Zuckerberg has become the biggest phenomenon on the internet.

A person interface which allows for quick communication and the ability to create fan pages and groups in the click of a mouse button are what make Facebook very popular. Another important reason behind its immense popularity may be the wide selection of social applications that have been developed and made available within the Facebook environment.

These applications makes it possible for users and friends to do joint pursuits like doing offers that run endlessly, sharing photos, videos, and web links, and much more.

How does this help a marketer?

Traditionally, media plans were attracted to include television channels, publications, or any other media that may grab maximum eyeballs and effectively reach a selected target audience. The science of segmentation and targeting has become only more accurate in the case of social media.

Facebook provides a multitude of avenues to contact the crowd, which reveals a completely different whole world of possibilities to have a fruitful dialogue with customers. Some of these methods used popularly by marketers are:

Advertising: The very first opportunity, which is easily the most obvious one, is advertising on Facebook. The main difference, however, is the fact that you are able to create your own advertisement within minutes as well as specify the facts of the target group when it comes to demographics and types of discussions in places you want your advertisement to appear. Fan Pages: Facebook allows every brand, in addition to individual users, to produce fan pages for his or her favorite celebrities and their own homegrown businesses. Large brands also have created their official pages on Facebook that have a big, immediate fan following all over the world. The fan page has immense utility to share top notch information about the brand and also to collect immediate and frank feedback out of your customers.

Branded applications: One of the most effective ways to engage a user toward your brand is by creating a credit card applicatoin; this could be a game or a contest, together with your branding coming across subtly through it.

What makes Facebook much more exciting may be the way it allows you to target your communication sharply just to the customer segment you need to attract. It also provides analytics and page insights that give good feedback and measurement about the activity done.

The options supplied by Facebook can be creatively explored and used judiciously for bringing about maximum benefits to any brand.

However, while doing all this, you need to be aware of the fact that customers come with an equal say and have the ability to respond immediately to all of your actions with a thumbs up or a thumbs down. Availing the service of a social media consultant to work out a social media strategy may be required so that your efforts will not be in vain

How to find a Social Media Marketing Strategist and steer clear of Scammers

One of the biggest marketing trends in the region of Internet marketing is using social media to obtain traffic and awareness about your business. Most business owners require to use social media for their business and start to consider help but the problem is the fact that it seems most people are touting themselves like a social media consultant. It’s difficult to determine who to trust when everybody claims that they are the expert.

So how do you figure out which consultants to utilize? First, you have to separate from the individuals who walk their talk and also the individuals who just talk. Anybody can use social media sites but have they tried on the extender to promote their very own business and for their clients? Ask the consultant how he personally used social media and for references to other clients.

Next, you need to look for a consultant that knows how to use the different social networking sites to its fullest capacity. Using Facebook is a lot not the same as using Twitter or maintaining your own blog. You will find different strategies that need to be put in place so that you can develop a following and contact them. Likewise, you need to setup various things for any blog for example commenting, RSS subscription, social bookmarking features, and much more.

Third, find out if the consultant can measure the outcomes. So you’ve set up a Facebook account but did it really result in sales? Some businesses want to communicate through multiple channels but small businesses need to turn their marketing into profits. You need to find an expert that knows how to begin using these mediums to create in more sales.

Fourth, look at their presentation using their portfolio, personal site, and background. A qualified consultant must have a great portfolio for you to take a look at, a well designed professional site, and can verify any experiences they had working with well-known clients or businesses.

Fifth, ask them what they will be doing to help you make the most of social media. You want to get a concept of what’s involved. Discover what their strategy is and what kinds of services are now being offered. It’s also wise to read some articles on social media from a trustworthy source to determine if the consultant knows what he is talking about.

In conclusion, you have to be careful about hiring consultants that claim to be social media experts. It seems like most people are trying to jump on this trend making a profit bankrupt owners that want to use social media to move their business forward.

Go through the steps outlined in the following paragraphs and verify as much information you need to make a good decision and hire the right person. Hiring someone who is qualified and it has delivered results can really help you employ social media to its maximum capacity

Question by Shadowlord: Which website design allows you to upload files for others to download?
I need to design my own website, but I don’t know which website allows you to upload short videos (At least 100MB), music and documents for others to download.
I want to be the host, and I want it to be free.
Acually I think a blog would work fine too.

Answer by uncaged
When someone browses to something other than HTML, their browser pops up the Save As dialog box. That means anything you can get to with a URL can be downloaded. In other words, it doesn’t matter which web hosting company you go with for people to be able to download your files.

Now if you want streaming video or music, that’s a different story, and you’ll have to shop for a web host that supports what you want.

How to Use Social Media Tools to Achieve Web 2.0 Optimization

The Internet is changing and the changes are happening quickly. Luckily, the changes are in the favor of entrepreneurs, small businesses, authors, and small presses. Welcome to Web 2.0 and social media.

Learning about and utilizing these new tools and technologies is essential to establish a dynamic and truly connected Web presence. The beauty of Web 2.0 is that it is driven by the people who use it. Unlike today’s Internet, Web 2.0 relies more on a site’s popularity among the masses. Incorporating social media optimization alongside search engine optimization enables anyone to establish a truly optimized Web presenceespecially if paired with a meaningful message.

The tools available to achieve this optimization are numerous but can seem overwhelming. However, once armed with a general knowledge, it is easy to select the tools and technologies to catalyze the greatest amount of Web traffic.

According to Wikipedia, Web 2.0 “refers to a perceived second-generation of web-based communities and hosted servicessuch as social-networking sites, wikis and folksonomieswhich aim to facilitate collaboration and sharing between users.” Additionally, Wikipedia defines social media as “the online technologies and practices that people use to share opinions, insights, experiences, and perspectives. Social media sites typically use technologies such as blogs, message boards, podcasts, wikis, and vlogs to allow users to interact.” Thus, Web 2.0 and social media optimization means optimizing one’s Web presence in three general ways: Interactivity, Sharing, and Collaboration.

Interactivity

The essential premise of social media is that information (media) offered to users will be interactive. Social, in a word, means interactive and interactivity can be accomplished in many ways, whether it is allowing readers to comment on or share content, subscribe to it so they can have it on hand, or display the content on their own site.

To make online content more interactive, Web 2.0 and social media users can implement these tools and technologies:

* Blogging, using WordPress or Typepad

* RSS Feeds (see Feedburner for more information on RSS feeds)

* Podcasting and Vidcasting

* Wikis

* Social Media News (Press) Releases

* Social Media Newsrooms

* Image tools such as Snapshots

Sharing

Sharing in the “live” Web means that content is offered to others through blogging indexes and media communities; by tagging interesting sites on social bookmarking sites; or by developing mini applications like widgets or mash-ups.

Remember: Anything that can be posted to a Web site will have some type of “media community” in which to share it.

To begin “sharing” content in the live Web, Internet users can:

* Include their Blog, Podcast, or Vidcast in directories like Technorati, Google Blog Search, Podcast.com, or BlogPulse

* Tag their favorite blogs and Web sites on social bookmarking sites like Technorati and del.icio.us

* Share and tag multimedia in Media Communities like Flickr and YouTube

* Use Collage tools or Webcasting like SplashCast Media or blogTV

* Create and distribute Widgets or Mash-ups using services like widgetbox, Open Social, or Yahoo Pipes.

Collaboration

Web 2.0 and social media users need to be willing to give back. This could mean commenting regularly on others’ content, joining and contributing to a social networking site, contributing to crowd-sourced news sites, or becoming an avatar in a virtual reality.

Specifically, some of these efforts may include:

* Commenting on others’ blogs (using co.mments is a good way to track them)

* Contributing to crowd-sourced news aggregators like reddit, Digg, or Fark

* Creating profiles on social or professional networking sites like LinkedIn, MySpace, or Facebook

* Participating in microblogs like Twitter or Jaiku

* Posting events in social calendars such as eventful.com, or upcoming.org

* Becoming an avatar in a virtual world like Second Life or There

* Participating in communities or forums like a Yahoo group, a Google group, or starting your own using services like Ning.

Participating in the new, live Web is ultimately about connecting with people. A common mistake businesses make is to apply old methods to these new tools. It has been disastrous for many of them. With a real and conversational message and general understanding of the new social media tools and technologies, anyone can participate in the new Internet and find tremendous benefit from their efforts!

Tips To Help Build Your Blogging Skills

Tips To Help Build Your Blogging Skills

I decided to start a blog because I enjoy writing. My first blog post wasn’t very attention-grabbing, but I wanted to write about my personal experiences. Secretly, I imagined a career as a freelance writer. One day, instead of daydreaming about becoming a writer, I began researching information about the social networking industry. I was amazed by how many people blog on a daily basis and I wanted to become a part of this fascinating social phenomenon. So, I frequently browse the internet and visit book stores or libraries for more information.

Here’s a few tips that I learned to help boost your blogging skills:

Writing good quality content helps you to establish credibility.  No one likes to read something that they don’t understand or is misleading.  Meaningful topics that are well thought out can increase traffic to your blog, instead of making posts that are filled with a bunch of fluff.  Don’t make blog entries just for the sake of posting because fluff stuff only purpose is to take up space.

You should make every effort to establish a relationship with the reader by encouraging comment discussions.  Also, strive to address the reader’s needs and connect through email.

Keep in mind, many people do not read blogs word for word and may start by skimming quickly to see if it’s worth their time.  It’s a good idea to break up your content by using bold text, sub sections and add color to text links.  Modifying your text will help get your message across to readers that are glancing at your post.

Use a conversational tone because it’s easier to read and smoother to digest.  Always use correct spelling and proper punctuation.  Proofread your content once or twice before posting your message.

Take your time writing good quality content and be resourceful.  Make an effort to help your readers in each post that you make.  The internet is filled with millions of readers that share first-hand information and common interests about any number of topics.

Learn from other bloggers mistakes and don’t underestimate the potential of your blog.  If you want to start blogging seriously, get your own domain name and hosting service.  You’ll have more control over your content and learn what you need to do if you want to monetize your blog.

Don’t forget to backup all your blog posts.  Use external devices, such as USB flash drives to save your data or use an online backup service.  Remember, computers often crash and your information may not be recoverable.

If you use a social networking site to make blog posts, keep in mind their site may develop glitches or problems.  Some known issues bloggers have experienced include disappearing content, difficulties logging on, being unable to view profiles and error messages when posting content.

Question about Blogging and Privacy?!?

Question by wisdom.faq: blogging?!?
I am wanting to blog over the internet but still with some privacy. For instance, i can place MySpace private. I am looking for a website of blogging. I only know Xanga, but i do not know how well it works. I only like to shar e my blogs with friends. What are other blog sites i can try?

Also, i am looking for a nickname. My name is Sophia Mo. I am a firm believer in Jesus Christ. Anything that sounds ordinary. Please. :) I like to place God’s Hand Maiden, but i like to hear your advise too.

Best answer:

Answer by guardianangelz
Xanga has fairly basic privacy controls. There’s an option where you can limit viewers of certain journal entries to users in a predefined list, but Xanga Classic (the free one) only allows up to ten users on that list. LiveJournal, on the other hand, allows you to restrict entry views to your friends only, and there’s no limit to how many friends you can have. I’m pretty satisfied with LJ’s interface and ease of use.

Sophia’s a pretty name! I go to a college named after you (well, no, but still). As for nicknames… “sophia… _mo”? I don’t really do the nicknames thing well. My nickname comes from my agnostic beliefs in religion in general, which is usually personified by guardian angels (who protect and guide) as opposed to the scary, expecting-to-be-feared God. Sophia… “girl_of_wisdom”?
