If I said groove to you what style of music pops into your head? Was it the blues? Blues at it’s very core was the beginning of R&B and even Hip hop to an extent, and this is more true for those guitarists who long to take blues guitar lessons then any other.
The blues is the roots of many current styles of music for all instruments from the bass to the guitar. While many rhythms and grooves are now programmed into a computer and then sampled rather then played by live musicians there is still a core group of enthusiasts that long to take bass guitar lessons to learn the secrets of groove and feel in popular music.
The down side to these enthusiasts who want to learn the blues, bass or drums is they are also working professionals, have families and often don’t have the available time to take private lessons each and every week. This leaves their dream on the back burner waiting for an opportunity that for many never arrives.
The Internet has made things more accessible then ever before and online guitar lessons are an example of how new technology is making it’s way into the arts and education experience for all of us.
Instant access to catalogs of online lesson videos will help students learn the blues, jazz, rock and even finger style in a matter of months entirely on their own from home. All that’s required is a computer and an Internet connection to get started.
So if you ever find yourself at the blues club wishing that was you up on stage grooving away remember that you have the option to learn something new, and online lessons make it possible no matter how busy you are to learn when it’s convenient for you. So go get started!

In order to be successful at learning to play the guitar online there are three things you need to have. Now these aren’t concrete items you need in order to learn most effectively, rather these are elements that you must look for before you can start taking online guitar lessons.
The Right Instructor
It doesn’t matter if you’re enrolling for private instruction or joining an online guitar course, either way you need to have the right teacher for your playing style, expectations and personality.
You might think this isn’t possible to find with guitar lessons videos on the Internet but you can tell pretty quickly from a few minutes of video whether a particular individual is someone you’d get along with or not.
Right Style
Do you love hard rock and metal? Or is softer acoustic and classical tones more your style?. What ever your favorite style is consider this when choosing a teacher or guitar program to learn from. Of course when first starting out in any style you’ll need to learn chords, scales and the like but learning those on a acoustic guitar from a soft spoken teacher or from a distorted electric guitar and a rather loud and some what annoying teacher are two very different things.
The Right Course
We’ve talked about the right teacher and the right style, it’s not time to consider the medium with which you will learn.
Some people like watching videos on their PC, these people would likely enjoy a learn guitar online course. Then there are others who can’t stand the thought of watching videos online and would much rather use their TV, for these folks a DVD course would make more sense. Finally there is a group, albeit smaller, that would prefer having a book to learn from and read about the techniques and theories on the guitar, for those people an ebook or lesson book from your local music shop would serve the purpose.
Keeping in mind how you enjoy learning new things, what style of music you enjoy, and seeking out the right teacher will ensure you have a good chance of success when learning to play the guitar
