There s big news in the smartphone sector as 3UK launch their groundbreaking new tariff package, The One Plan sim only deals. You can have it with all their available handsets, and the company reckon it has enough to provide for everyone s needs.

With the plan you get the following:
2000 all network minutes
5000 minutes to 3UK phones
5000 texts
1GB data cap

The option of 2000 calling minutes cross network was first mooted on the plans for iPhone 4 released last week, although there is as yet no unlimited specification. Even so, however, it s hard to see how even the most obsessive users could get through all the minutes and texts the package provides; even the data cap is fairly generous compared to what the other providers offer (Orange and Vodafone both set a 500MB limit).

For a SIM-only deal you pay a base monthly charge of £25, although if you want a smarter handset then the price will go up (so with an iPhone 4 it s between £35-45 depending on which version of the handset you have and how much it costs you upfront).

From July, 3 mobile uk are also set to remove the term unlimited from their vocabulary, as Vodafone did on their data allowance last year. This may act as a spur for all providers to stop using a word which has misleading connotations and can con customers into thinking they get more than they actually do for what they initially pay.

3UK have furthermore offered clarification on their existing Internet tariffs. What they previously termed as unlimited data allowance was in fact capped at 500MB. That allowance is now being doubled for customers on their Texter 500 or 900 deals and the Internet Talker 900. On more historic rates, most subscribers pay a monthly rate of £5 for 2GB of data (also once termed unlimited ), and this will continue as before without any hidden charges or data reductions. 3UK have also said that if you re getting 1GB of data for free you can pay an extra £5 to double your allowance.

It seems, therefore, that if you sign up to The One Plan, at a monthly rate of £30 you can get the full wedge of minutes as shown above along with a whopping 3GB of Internet each month. 3UK have once again made a tempting offer to consumers and put themselves at the leading edge of the mobile market in Britain.
