Secret Ebay Tips

The newcomer to the eBay online auction website may find stories of huge wealth a little hard to believe. What is their secret of their overwhelming success? Many of us can’t help but look at these top power sellers and wonder what they know that we don’t.

What is the secret code they know that we don’t?

Some foundations of success aren’t secret at all – it still takes good old fashioned hard work and customer service to become a top seller on Ebay. There are some tips that are used by merchants that you can use as well.

Select your keywords carefully and they must be relevant to what you are selling on eBay. Web pages with plenty of relevant words will show up on web searches. Browsing other peoples’ websites and a little asking around will land you a bagful of killer terms that will work like magic. How do you know which terms buyers are searching for? There are programs (Keyword Pro and Ebay Pulse) that can search terms for you, run by professional people specializing in the field and it would be worthwhile enlisting their service. Add some of these terms to your own listings to increase views. The idea of the keywords is to make your product attractive to buy, therefore they must fulfill this function to the letter. Avoid spamming at all costs, it is not worth it and the consequences can be severe.

It is truly sad to note that there are some poor spellers on the internet and when selling products this is unforgivable. Fatfingers.com is a great site to check for the most regular misspelled words. For example, I searched for the term “scarf”. Sacrf’, sxarf’or other typos were displayed as possible misspelled words for the terms scarf. It is amazing to note that many items you can find at low prices are simply ignored and failed to be taken up just because they are listed with incorrect spelling. Sellers on eBay themselves will find out about these misspelled items and buy them at low process, to later sell them at higher prices. Ebay merchants should be aware of these weaknesses of misspelled items and take great pains to avoid them.

Data analysis is important not only for offline business but also for online business. You will be aware of fast moving selling items as well as the slow ones. Successful eBay merchants know when and which items to buy and sell at opportune times. There are a few software programs that analyze eBay’s data on market conditions. Hot Item Finder (www.hotitemfinder.com) is one such program. Data analyzers are there already to assist you save time and effort doing research yourself. You can also resort to a program called Auction Yen to help you in preparing your marketing strategy. Programs that show what customers really want is indispensable to merchants.

It’s vitally important to keep track of your inventory and auction listings. You can cash in on the expert knowledge and experience of using an eBay selling manager. This online tool helps sellers track and customize their listings, print shipping labels, and more. Saving time is important in eBay trading. Learn all you can from other successful eBay merchants and you will be prosperous. Learn from other peoples mistakes and implement the advice provided here if you are serious about earning a decent living as an ebay seller.

You can sell just about anything on ebay I sell mostly Indian jewlery and my rocks . But you can sell things like shoes, purses, candles etc. Log onto ebay, then look for “site map” There you will see all the catorgories of which you can sell. You can also try “www.bonanzle.com” which I also use, as it is free. You pay only a small fee when an item sells, and nothing to list for as long as it takes. Not anywhere nearly as big as ebay, but a great place to get your feet wet for free. I am there as rockpolisherc Good Luck

Ebay Tips on How to Handle Difficult Buyers?

Ebay Tips on How to Handle Difficult Buyers?

During your auctions, you are likely to meet a few difficult buyers so how do you handle such customers.

Before I give you any answers on how to handle difficult buyers, I must stress to you that in any businesses; be it a physical store or a virtual store like an eBay auction, you want to have repeat customers.

What do I mean by repeat customers?

Repeat customers are those buyers that keep on coming back to buy your products.

Why then should they come back to your store?

There could be a few reasons or a combination of the following reasons:

-          the product meets their needs or expectations

-          the price for the product is within their budget

-          the service rendered is excellent

-          they are confident in dealing with you

Having the above as your guiding principle in doing any businesses, I would say that we just have to be patient and serve these ‘difficult’ buyers well so that they will eventually give you a good feedback rating and they would even be your repeat customers.

What could be some difficult buyers?

Some may ask you for details that are already given in the description of the item but you have to be polite and repeat the answer. Do not  be sarcastic and tell the customer to re-read the item description as it was already given or posted; eg. the size or measurement of the item.

A few may even ask what you may think is a silly question but you still have to be tactful and give them some polite answer; eg. is the item in good condition?

After you have posted the item to the successful bidder, the customer may say that the item has yet to arrive or it is broken or not to his expectation, etc….. Basically, you should seek some understanding from the customer and check with the postal service, replace the item or even given a refund.

Bottom line is that you want to be seen to be genuine in your sale and providing excellent services to the Buyer and not making a fast buck from him. Yes, you may be cheated on a few transactions but this is how it works in the real business world too.

You cannot afford to have even one bad feedback rating as it is likely to prevent future buyers from transacting with you. But if you have been obliging and giving good services to your past buyers and have been indicated in your positive feedback, you are getting good and free publicity or advertisement for you store or products.

So in conclusion, you have to be patient and tactfully when dealing with all these difficult buyers and take it as an opportunity to showcase your excellent service or follow-up in the sale of your products.

Profitable eBay Tips And Traits Of Successful eBay Sellers

Make no mistake about it. Selling on eBay is simple, and you can learn how to do that by just browsing the site.  But if you are serious about your business, then the point of selling on eBay is to make profit.

The biggest advantage of online auctions is that they expand a seller’s market from a relatively small group to essentially anyone with a computer and access to the Internet.

What this means for you as an eBay seller is that you’ve stepped onto a level playing field that’s populated with sellers that range from small part-timers who may not post even an auction a month – to huge multinational corporations with hundreds of items up for sale at any given time.

And get this:  Your chances of profits and success are just as good as theirs.

Astonishing, isn’t it?

If you want to sell merchandise to consumers, eBay is a great way to do that without having to deal with the overhead expense of having a retail store.

Now, on the other hand, if you already have a retail operation, eBay opens up a tremendous market for you at virtually no additional cost.

The simple fact of the matter is that millions of dollars are spent and EARNED on eBay every single day.  If you want to sell merchandise or services of any kind, you can’t afford to overlook this lucrative sales channel.

By now, you are probably wondering how to get started building your own profitable eBay business. But before I jump into the details, let me give you some quick and useful tips for running your own auction on eBay.

Tip # 1: Always provide an accurate description of the item you are selling, including all terms of the sale and who will pay shipping costs.

Tips # 2: You should always respond quickly to any questions bidders may raise during the auction.  Make it a point to contact the high bidder as soon as possible after the auction closes to confirm the details of the sale.

Tip # 3: Ship the merchandise as soon as you receive payment.

As you can see, the key ingredient to a successful auction is communication.

Now at this point, you must understand that your success on eBay will not be due to any one thing, but rather a combination of various factors.

With that in mind, here are 5 traits that successful eBay sellers have in common:

Trait # 1: They are in the habit of treating their eBay activities like a tried and true business.

If you want a serious eBay operation that will earn you a heck of a lot more than pocket change, you have to start treating it like a business.

What this means is creating a separate business entity with a name, bank account, proper licenses, etc.  In addition to that, it means finding suppliers you can rely on and building solid relationships with them.  Prepare yourself to ship all items promptly, provide outstanding customer support, and leaving timely, accurate feedback.

Trait # 2: They find a niche and build on their own expertise.

Remember this: You cannot be all things to all people.  It is impossible for any single person to be an expert in all the categories of merchandise on eBay.  Successful eBay sellers specialize in one or two areas.

They establish themselves as experts. Their knowledge are reflected in how well their listings are written, the information in their About Me page, and how they respond to requests for additional information.

They are generous in how they share what they know, whether it’s information on their merchandise or assisting a new eBay buyer with making a purchase.

Trait # 3: They are amazing communicators.

Let me repeat…communication is crucial to your success.  You have to know how to write auction listings that accurately describe he product, shipping, payment options, return policy and other details.  You have to respond to questions from bidders promptly with complete and courteous answers.

More importantly, you have to be able to communicate with the winning bidders immediately at the close of the auction and maintain the communication until the transaction is complete.

Trait # 4: They are persistent and learn by doing.

Successful eBay sellers don’t give up easily.  When an auction doesn’t go as expected, they figure out what they should do differently next time.

In other words, they learn from their mistakes.  And even when things are going well, they are always trying to figure out how to make them better.

Trait # 5: They buy first, and sell later.

A good rule of thumb is to make a few purchases on eBay before you try to sell anything.  Shop a little.  See what other listings are like.  You’ll learn a lot just by finding out how the system works.  And as if that’s not enough, you’ll also see firsthand what customers go through.

Now, don’t get me wrong, you don’t have to spend a lot of money, and the chances are you’ll find things that you would find elsewhere anyway.

Here’s something else that you might find interesting.  Shopping first allows you to build a history under your user ID and earn some positive feedback, so buyers will feel more comfortable with you later on when you start selling.

This is a great way to build trust.

Buy from a lot of experience sellers and see just how they handle things. In my experience, it’s smart to copy the good ones and learn from the bad ones.

The bottom line is, selling on eBay is the easiest way to turn your hobby or special interest into a business.  Just let this sink in for a moment:  Whatever you enjoy doing, you have a degree of expertise and experience in – and you can turn that into fast cash on eBay.

Are you ready to make this business profitable? The ball is in your court.

Top 10 Free Ebay Tips

Top 10 Free Ebay Tips

The following are my Top 10 Free Ebay Tips, given in no particular order. They might just save and make you some money. Enjoy.

Tip #1
Never list an item and set the minimum bid as . You will save ten to twenty cents each listing if you make it .99.

Tip #2
When you leave feedback, as a bidder or as a seller, always mention specifically what item was exchanged (not the item number, something like “…the great Lady Diana magazine”). That way, people viewing feedback will see what item you just acquired that they might like to own. And if you have sold an item, maybe they will think you have one more that they can purchase. And while the link to the item expires after some 30 days, your mention of the item will remain forever.

Tip #3
Make an “About Me” Ebay page and set a link to your auctions and your webpage. It’s like free advertising, because Ebay users are curious, and they will check out your stuff.

Tip #4
Sellers – specialize! Devote most of your activity to one or two categories. After a while, you will have expert knowledge of your field(s). Who gets the most repeat customers? Those who specialize.

Tip #5
When typing the item description, use numerals instead of spelling out numbers; for instance, type “16″ instead of “sixteen.” Many potential bidders do searches for single items from a set, like card 16 from a set of 250 trading cards. People looking up items having nothing to do with what you’re selling might have their eye caught, just because they have numerals in common. The idea is to get as many eyeballs on your listing as possible.

Tip #6
Keywords (the words you put in your item description) are everything.  I list a lot of celebrity items; here’s how I work in keywords for a Frank Sinatra item: “The pride of Hoboken, New Jersey, Frank Sinatra became a big . . .”  See how I squeezed in his hometown and state, both words that might be searched for by collectors.

Tip #7
Buy in lots (more than one item per auction, say, 25 baseball cards at once) and sell individually (one card/item at a time). My experience is that I get more money that way.

Tip #8
Cutting down on the number of items returned to you is easy. You need only be thoroughly descriptive in your item descriptions, pointing out every little ding and imperfection. Reading a longer description is much better than a bidder having to repackage the item you sent and send it back to you.

Tip #9
Sign up with Paypal and state in your auction listing how the winning bidder saves the price of a stamp each time she uses Paypal.

Tip #10
Accrue free money as an Ebay affiliate. It can really add up over a year’s time!

10 Ebay Tips to Insure a Perfect Welcome Email to Your Buying Customers!

Quality merchandise at reasonable prices definitely is the winning combination when attracting buyers to bid on your auctions, but the one thing that can make you stand out from your competition is outstanding customer service. Customers will buy from you again if they liked the service that you provided them.

Where does service start? The very instant that you email them after they have purchased your product from a winning bid is when you either create a long term customer or just a one time fly by the night purchase.

Your welcome email should be very detail oriented yet display compassion for their needs. In today’s article we are going to give you 10 very important Ebay tips that you should take into consideration when emailing your customer after they have won their bid and purchased your products.

Ebay tip number 1: You need to let your new Ebay customers know approximately when they are going to get their product. I realize that the timetable for shipping varies but do the best you can based on the shipping option that was chosen. For example if you indeed ship the product out via second day FedEx delivery then you know it will take 2 days but on the other hand if you use the US Postal Service then it could take longer so try to do your best to guess.

Ebay tip number 2: Provide your Ebay customers with the name of the item that they bought and the auction number. This is also another way to double check their orders and to avoid unnecessary refunds from Ebay. Yes of course it is their responsibility to record this information but it is insurance on your part to go the distance and remind your Ebay customers of this information.

Ebay tip number 3: Be sure to make it clear and verify what the closing purchase amount was. Although this is probably already known it is still nice to remind the customer of how much they have paid for your products.

Ebay tip number 4: When allowing your new Ebay customers to pay with checks, let them know how long it will take for you to hold the product while waiting for the check to clear. This usually takes about 5 to 14 days for your Ebay customers.

Ebay tip number 5: Another piece of advice to take into consideration when accepting checks or money orders is to be sure to be very specific as to what location that you want them to send the payment to. List your name and address as clear as possible.

Ebay tip number 6: If you are making any quantity number of sales then you probably have experienced payments being sent in without any information as to what product the customer ordered. You can remedy this by making it clear in the email to your buyers that they need to write down the item name and auction number with their payment.

Ebay tip number 7: Get a confirmation of the shipping address and the phone number of the customer. Even though there this information is provided when the bid was won it is wise of you to verify this in your welcome email. Do not risk a bad testimonial from a buyer just because you did not confirm the shipping address.

Ebay tip number 8: If you accept credit cards online from your Ebay business then be sure to guide your new Ebay auction winners through the process of paying with their cards. Some online payment systems may confuse people and you do not want to risk a chargeback because of confusion on your buyer’s part. With the strict rules that Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover have these days, you will want to be careful with your Ebay charges.

Ebay tip number 9: Entice your Ebay customers by trading a good testimonial for them (the buyer) if the entire exchange and delivery goes smooth. This may help insure a smoother transaction on your customers part.

Ebay tip number 10: Last but not least, be sure to include your phone number for contact info when selling your Ebay products. This may help expedite the process faster if your customers can call you for questions or concerns.

Some Tips for Buying and Selling on Ebay

eBay Tips

eBay Tips

For just a moment, try to comprehend the power of the Internet. Every day, there are millions of people from around the globe “surfing the web.”

People run their business from the Internet, search for love, research succulent recipes, plan vacations, and best of all – they SHOP! People that shop are always looking for a bargain, not just any bargain, but something spectacular.

The most popular public auction site, eBay, is where people gather to find anything from dishes to jewelry to houses and just about everything in between. Last year there was even a mother sold on eBay!

You can purchase amazing original artwork from China, have it signed by the artist, and shipped directly to your home. Perhaps you are trying to find 12 yards of Toile to reupholster your couch. You might even be looking for a new lawnmower or different power tools. The great news is that eBay has it all!

The other side of buying is the selling. Anyone can sell anything on eBay. Open an account, list your product, and wait for the bids to start coming in. There are secrets to being a power seller on eBay. While it is true that anyone can sell, to be successful, you need to know the inside secrets. One woman made over 0,000 last year on items sold on eBay. She is just one out of thousands and thousands of people that make a ton of money just selling merchandise.

Are you ready to learn how to be an eBay seller? You will find it to be easy, fun, and exciting.

1. Collectibles

Hot sellers on eBay are collectibles such as coins, stamps, or dolls. You can check out the collectibles category to get a better idea of what people love to buy. Anything that will move up in value would fall in this category.

2. Consumables

This popular category would include anything that people use and then would need to buy again such as lotions, perfumes, camera film, candles, etc.

3. Information Products

In this category, you would sell anything that can be sent on a CD or floppy disc or downloaded from the Internet. This is another popular category.

4. Start at Home

When you first get started, it can be a little unnerving. The best option is to start by looking around your own home. Think of items that you would sell in a garage sale. However, instead of pricing each item and lugging it outside hoping for a nice sunny day, you can advertise them on the Internet.

5. Just eBay

Although there are several other quality auction websites, eBay is by far the most popular and most successful. Although you could start using all the other sites, by spreading yourself out too thin you take the risk of getting things mixed up. In reality, it is better to use eBay and focus your attention and efforts on this one site. You will not be disappointed.

6. Look Around

Navigate through each section to familiarize yourself with all the different pages. You will find a site map and help tab, which are very useful tools. It will take a little time to get used to the site but start by looking. As you start selling, navigating will become much easier.

7. Quick Response

When you have an item listed on eBay and a potential buyer contacts you with a question, respond quickly. It is important and actually critical to your success to check your account several times a day. Answering a question could be the difference between you getting the sale or the buyer going elsewhere.

8. Trustworthiness

It is extremely important that you handle your account with integrity. The number of positive comments and amount of stars earned are what will be the deciding factor for many buyers. Be professional, polite, and stand by what you sell.

9. Accuracy

When you list your item(s) on eBay, write an accurate description. You do not have to write long paragraphs of rambling information but provide exact measurements, colors, condition, etc. Be extremely precise when it comes to your description.

10. Buyer Contact

Once your item(s) have sold, be responsive to the buyer. Contact them in a quick manner, thank them for their purchase, and provide the required information for payment.
